Yesterday, I visited my buddy through the Alzheimer's Alliance program. Every visit to a hospital and nursing home reminds me to smile and be grateful that I am healthy, I have autonomy, and I am able to bring happiness to others by harnessing my own joy. A few random thoughts and notes:
-
Smiles are infectious. (You don't need words to communicate.)
-
Patience is important when interacting with people.
-
My buddy looked at me, smiled, and said, "You're the only one who ever visits me."
-
I want to have life experiences that I'm eager to share with others.
-
I still love working with the elderly.
-
The simplest things in life make us the happiest.
Volunteering is a wonderful part of my life.
